High Performance Object Storage for Commvault Backup, Restore and Replication

Simple. Scalable. Fast. Ransomware-Proof. In other words, exactly what you want.

Simple = Safe.

The world is complex enough. Commvault and MinIO simplify backup and restore to protect your data. It works out of the box across a range of data sources from VMs to Office 365.

Simple = Safe.

Simple Delivers Scale

MinIO object storage scales seamlessly to exabytes and beyond with its server pools approach. This ensures that Commvault can focus on its core tasks - leaving the rest, from hardware heterogeneity to erasure coding and bit rot protection to MinIO. That means enterprises can scale their backups and protect as much data as makes sense.

Simple Delivers Scale

Fast Backups Are One Thing, Fast Restore is Another

Backups and restores need to go quickly no matter the size. With the ability to read/write at speeds in excess of 325 GiB/s in a single 32 node cluster, MinIO and Commvault can backup and restore from object storage at speeds once considered impossible. When your business depends on restoring quickly - there is no better solution in the market.

Atomic Power

Because MinIO writes metadata atomically along with the object data, there is no requirement for an external metadata database (Cassandra in most cases). This eliminates the performance penalty associated with small objects. MinIO delivers performance across Commvault's recommended range of object sizes facilitating fast deletes and dedupe.

Inline and Strictly Consistent

Data in MinIO is always readable and consistent since all of the I/O is committed synchronously with inline erasure-code, bitrot hash and encryption. The S3 service provided by MinIO is resilient to any disruption or restarts in the middle of busy transactions. There is no caching or staging of data for asynchronous I/O. This guarantees all backup operations are guaranteed to succeed.

Hardware Agnostic

Like Commvault, MinIO is software-defined and hardware agnostic. This approach delivers massive savings and flexibility to Commvault customers as they design systems to accommodate a range of different backup use cases.

Hardware Agnostic
MinIO and Commvault offer a diverse range of software-defined, optimized backup solutions. We partnered together to add high performance object storage as an endpoint-disaggregating computation and storage in the backup context, all while delivering superior performance, scalability and economics. A single cluster of MinIO can serve as a Commvault endpoint for anything from VMs, Oracle, SAP, and MS Office.
