Get answers about MinIO certification exams, learning subscriptions, AIStor Quickstart access, instructor-led training, and program policies.

MinIO Certification FAQs

What certifications are available?

The current certification is the MinIO Certified Administrator Practitioner, which confirms your ability to configure, deploy, secure, and scale MinIO AIStor clusters. Future certifications will expand to Developer and Architect roles.

Who can take a MinIO Certification Exam?

Anyone age 18 or older who meets the technical prerequisites can register. For more information on the requirements, please visit the MinIO Academy - Training and Certification Terms of Use

How are exams delivered?

Exams are delivered through Prometric, MinIO’s authorized Certification Exam Provider. You can choose a remote online proctoring session through Prometric’s ProProctor platform. You will complete a compatibility check before your session to confirm your device meets technical requirements.

What are the system requirements for an online exam?

Remote exams require a Windows or macOS computer with a webcam, microphone, and stable internet connection. Tablets and mobile devices are not supported. You should run Prometric’s system check before scheduling to confirm your setup meets requirements.

How long is the exam and what format is used?

The MinIO Certified Administrator exam includes 60 questions and a 90 minute time limit.
Questions are multiple choice and scenario based, covering real-world operations.

Can I take a break during my exam?

No. Unscheduled breaks are not permitted during MinIO certification exams.

What are the rules during the exam?

You may not use notes, phones, headphones, or any external resources during your exam. Your testing environment must be private, and you must remain on camera for the duration of the session. Any violations may result in termination of the exam and invalidation of results.

What identification is required?

You must present a valid government issued photo ID at check-in for all online and in-person exams.

How do I register?

Register through the MinIO Certification Site. After purchase, you will receive instructions directly from Prometric.

Can I request special accommodations?

If you are requiring testing accommodations, please email training@min.io before scheduling their exam to discuss available options.

Can I retake the exam?

Yes. You may retake the exam in accordance with the retake policy on the Certification Site. Additional fees may apply.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
  • Cancel at least 5 days before your exam for a refund
  • Cancellations within 5 days will incur a 25 dollar fee
  • No refunds are given for same day cancellations or no-shows
How long is certification valid?

Each MinIO certification is valid for three years from the date you pass the exam. To maintain your credential, you’ll need to pass the current version of the certification exam before your certification expires. If you do not renew, your certification and associated digital badge will expire and you’ll need to retake the current exam to regain certification status.

Do I receive a digital badge?

Yes. MinIO issues badges through Credly by Pearson. After passing, you will receive an email from Credly with instructions to claim and share your badge. By claiming your badge, you agree to Credly’s Terms of Use.

How can I use the MinIO logo or credential name?

Certified individuals may use the credential title and associated digital badge in accordance with the Terms and MinIO Trademark Policy.

MinIO Learning Subscription FAQs

What is included in the Learning Subscription?

The MinIO Learning Subscription Offering provides one year of unlimited access to MinIO’s online courses, labs, and video content for a designated Named Learner. Each subscription includes one voucher for a MinIO Certification Exam.

Who is a Named Learner?

A Named Learner is the individual registered to use the subscription. Each seat is assigned to a single Named Learner and cannot be transferred to another person.

How long does my access last?

Your subscription is valid for one year from the date of purchase. 

What is the Evaluation Trial License?

Subscribers can request a 60 day Evaluation Trial License for internal, non production training use. Licenses are subject to the Customer License and Subscription Agreement (CLSA) and the MinIO Academy - Training and Certification Terms of Use.

How do I redeem my certification voucher?

You can redeem your voucher through the Certification Site at any time during your subscription.Once redeemed, it must be used within 90 days.

What support is included?

Support for learning related questions is available through the subscription portal. Messages are routed to MinIO’s Curriculum Engineering team, which typically responds within one business day.

Are there usage restrictions?

Yes. Training materials are for your personal use only. You may not copy, share, or record video content. Named Learners may download one PDF copy of lab files for personal reference.

Will my usage data be shared?

MinIO may share Named Learner data with the purchaser or employer for administrative and reporting purposes.

MinIO AIStor Quick Start FAQs

What is the AIStor Quick Start?

The MinIO AIStor QuickStart Offering is a no cost, 60 day learning experience that introduces object storage and hands-on AIStor labs.

Who can enroll?

Anyone with a valid business email address can register. Each QuickStart seat is assigned to one Named Learner and cannot be transferred.

How long is access available?

Access lasts 60 days from the registration date.

What is the Enterprise Trial License?

Participants can request a 60 day Enterprise Trial License for internal, non production training environments. Trial Licenses are governed by the Customer License and Subscription Agreement (CLSA) and MinIO Academy - Training and Certification Terms of Use.

What support is available?

Support is provided through the training portal and is limited to learning related questions.Responses are typically provided within one business day.

Are there restrictions on content use?

Yes. You may not download or redistribute video content. Authorized Named Learners may download one PDF copy of lab files for personal use only.

MinIO Instructor Led Training FAQs

What is the MinIO Training Offering?

The MinIO Training Offering provides instructor-led classes, delivered virtually or on site, to help teams build enterprise level skills.

How are classes delivered?

Training may be delivered at your location, another approved site, or virtually through an online classroom.

What equipment or facilities are required?

For on site classes, the customer provides the training room and required equipment as specified by MinIO. 

How do labs work?

Labs are a core part of every course. They can be run on your local systems, in a public cloud, or in the MinIO data center. Customers are responsible for provisioning and securing any locally hosted labs.

What is the cancellation policy?
  • Cancel or reschedule at least 14 days before the class to avoid fees.
  • Cancellations 1 to 13 days before the class incur a 50 percent fee.
  • Same day cancellations or no-shows are fully billable. See Training Terms – Section 10.
How far in advance should training be scheduled?

Please provide at least four weeks’ notice for on site or virtual sessions.

Will I receive materials after class?

Participants may receive authorized lab instructions or reference guides. Recording or redistributing instructor content is not permitted.
